Sometimes when I need inspiration beyond what is immediately tangible, I go to the "random entry" button on the Stanford philosophy archive. It often recommends me abstract ideas that allow me to think about my life, interests, and politics with a greater depth.
One of the most compelling entries I've stumbled upon that prompted a number of my works was panpsychism: the theory that consciousness, experience, and life force is a fundamental characteristic of everything - animate and inanimate - on the planet. If such a belief were unanimously held, how would the way we conduct ourselves as a society change?
Lots of interesting things to think about.
